Draw your own conclusions. The current reading of 90.9 is comparable to levels not seen since 1991. What I belive is even more staggering is the fact that at no point in time since the data has been charted as is [remember that 1986 = 100 on a seasonally adjusted basis] in an "expansionary" period
NFIB Optimism Trend Line Data is Disturbing
This is another way to look at the NFIB monthly survey data. When you add the Power line to the actual data, the results looks even more bleak. The Power line incorporates past trends and then projects forward the data 12 months. As you can see, the data suggested further erosion over the next year.
